Dear PRMHA/NHC Draw Zone,
The Peace River Minor Hockey Association (PRMHA) / NHC would like to inform our regional members that, after careful consideration, our Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to take a one-year leave from operating a U11 AA team for the 2026-2027 season.
This decision was based on several factors, including lower-than-anticipated tryout registration numbers, limited participation in our Identification Skate, and the absence of interested coaching applicants. While disappointing, we believe this is the most responsible decision to ensure we continue to provide a positive and sustainable hockey experience for our players.
Although we will not be fielding a U11 AA team this season, this is intended to be a temporary pause—not a permanent change. During the coming year, PRMHA will focus on strengthening player development, increasing awareness of the AA pathway, recruiting qualified coaches, and building participation within our U11 age group.
Our goal is to return to the U11 AA program for the 2027-2028 season with a strong foundation that will provide our athletes with the best possible opportunity for success.
We appreciate the support and understanding of Hockey Alberta and our North Region partners as we take this step. We remain committed to the growth of elite hockey in our region and look forward to rejoining the U11 AA program next season.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to working together to provide meaningful development opportunities for our young athletes.
Sincerely,
PRMHA Board of Directors and NHC Committee
