AA Frequently Asked Questions.
- We will be adding to these as questions come up.
Yes, it'll be under the umbrella of PRMHA but run by a new and different group of individuals from our surrounding minor hockey associations. This new committee of individuals will make the decisions together on coaching applications, development, mentorship, etc. This is a great opportunity for representatives from all our neighboring associations to grow or own.
The ID skates are for players to showcase their skills and abilities at a AA level. Due to current Hockey Alberta policies, the only level that can secure spots prior to tryouts is U13AA due to the fact there isn't U13AAA. Currently an association can secure up to 6 U13AA roster spots prior to tryouts. This enables our program to retain and recruit talent that could potentially leave the draw zone for other competitive play. Many other associations have started following this model. We encourage players at other levels who do very well during the ID skates to attend the formal tryouts.
No, this does not replace tryouts in the fall. This does not affect your player's fall tryout in any shape or form.
This new umbrella under PRMHA will solely be focused on AA player and coach selections, development, recruitment, and retention. We've recognized that a lot of local talent in the region have left for many different reasons. It is our hope that this committee will start a new path forward for our AA teams. We cannot stress enough that we need involvement from all associations within the draw zone.
Every year, coaches and assistant coaches will need to apply for the following season. All candidates will be looked at objectively, with consideration given to past performance and credibility. Coaches can apply from any area in the draw zone and we also encourage Non parent coaches to apply. The committee will decide on the coaches for the upcoming season.
